Walla Walla Sheriff's Foundation is organized exclusively for educational and charitable purposes. We will be a source of private support for the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office and our principal purposes are to promote and further develop partnerships between the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Department and the citizens of the Walla Walla region; provide needed training to members of the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office and their partners; provide needed equipment; develop and help support programs as they relate to public safety and community outreach; and provide financial assistance to those members of the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office and their families that have been severely injured or killed in the line of duty.

We are NOT part of the County of Walla Walla nor any county or government branch, association or their affiliates. We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our Executive Committee and Board Members are all volunteers and we have no employees.

Timeline

August 2011

Formation

In August of 2011 a group of concerned community members met with Sheriff Turner. With budget cuts the group was anxious about the ability of the Sheriff's Office to maintain the highest level of community safety.

After a presentation by Sheriff Turner, the group moved to start a nonprofit foundation. Seven directors were elected. The process was started on Articles of Incorporation and the adoption of Bylaws. Papers were filed to be recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

September 2011

Public Meeting

On September 7, 2011 the Foundation invited the public to a meeting at the airport conference room. Foundation President Liz Tate informed the group about the history and goals of the Foundation. A presentation was made by Sheriff Turner about the state of the Sheriff's Office along with immediate and future needs.

April 2013

K9 Purchase

In early 2013 two K9s were purchased from Alderhost International, Inc. with funds provided by the Foundation

On April 11, 2013 these two K9s passed all phases of obedience, protection, apprehension, tracking and trailing certification at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center (CJTC). These oustanding dogs completed the grueling certification process in 1st and 2nd place.
